Quinta de Ventozelo was once farmed by Cistercian monks who inhabited the region in the Middle Age. The monks transformed local agriculture and started the production of Port wine. Ventozelo is one of the largest and oldest estates in the Douro Valley and it has passed through different hands down the centuries, each moulding and transforming it into what it is today.

Located on the left bank of the River Douro as you arrive at Ervedosa, this is one of the region’s most beautiful and impressive estates. After passing Ventozelo’s Village, on our way to the riverside, one will find the biggest house of Ventozelo. The original building dates back to the 18^th century and the restoration works took place on the end of the 20^th century, transforming it into a kind of colonial-style hunting lodge. Its incredible location by the river make it the most exclusive unit in Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta, offering a full landscape immersion.

The 6 superior double rooms, each with its own private bathroom, are located around a central cloister where light invades the entire space. With a  library, living rooms, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen and a private infinity pool overlooking the river, this is the ideal place for a memorable group or family stay.

Inside the hotel premises there’s a cosy restaurant/wine bar called Cantina, a place meant for sharing, enjoying the local gastronomy and spending some quality time. All dishes are made using, as much as possible, ingredients produced at the Quinta and from other regional producers, assuring sustainability and a low ecological impact. Next to the Cantina, you will also find Mercearia, a Wine & Farm Shop where you can stock on all of Ventozelo’s wines and various local products.

Another interesting building is the Interpretive Center. Set in one of the most important edifications of Ventozelo, built in the 18th century, you will find a place that invites you to deeply understand the Douro region, with Quinta de Ventozelo as your starting point. Through ludic and sensorial experiences, you will be introduced to the vast history and patrimony of Ventozelo and of the Douro region. The visit takes place through the Quinta’s main nucleus, in Sítio dos Prazeres, passing through the chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres, the lagares and cellar, by the warehouse and the distillery.
