Casa Fortunato

- Alcácer do Sal -

Up to 12 guests | 6 suites | 7 bathrooms

Located in the northern part of the Alentejo region and near the coast, Casa Fortunato is an ideal retreat to enjoy the best of times with family, friends, or for a special gathering. Just 80 kilometers from Lisbon Airport and within easy reach of Comporta and Melides, this charming villa sits in the heart of Alcácer do Sal, inviting guests to explore its picturesque streets, admire the traditional architecture, walk along the Sado River ‘Salinas’, and discover a handful of unique monuments and cultural sites.

Casa Fortunato is owned by a couple of Portuguese architects who have infused the property with their impeccable taste and love for design. Traditional elements like wooden paneling, exposed stone, and Portuguese tiles are seamlessly paired with striking post-modernist touches. Throughout the house, guests will find carefully curated art and furniture pieces, including a vintage Mario Bellini sofa, sunshine yellow Nimrod chairs by Marc Newson, a 1950s Sergio Rodrigues couch, dining chairs by Portuguese design pioneer Daciano da Costa, and a seductive lounger by Patricia Urquiola.

The six suites are each uniquely designed, offering generous space, natural light, smooth wooden floors, and a calming white-on-white palette. Every room features a king-size bed and a walk-in rain shower, providing a serene setting that invites guests to unwind and embrace the region’s unhurried rhythm.

Casa Fortunato’s shared spaces include a welcoming library and reading area, a warm dining room, and a fully equipped kitchen with permanent staff on hand. Outside, a private orchard garden and patio offer a peaceful escape, while the swimming pool, surrounded by loungers and sunshades, is perfect for soaking up the Alentejo sun.

A delicious homemade breakfast is served daily, and additional meals can be arranged upon request. Dining at Casa Fortunato reflects the hosts’ character & personality – careful yet relaxed -, blending a home-style atmosphere with a commitment to quality ingredients. Humble small plates are crafted with care, using organic produce sourced from nearby farms and fields, resulting in meals that are both flavorful and deeply rooted in the surrounding landscape, allowing for an authentic and honest experience, such as the overall project.
