It’s hard to find a home away from home like this one. Inserted in a plot of 6 ha, between mountains and valleys, this idyllic family home has a rustic feel, an elegant decor and is very comfortable all year round. It’s located in Melides, a quieter area 30 km south of Comporta that merges the best of the countryside and the seaside. 

The house sits in the upper part of Melides, surrounded by a dense wooden area and offers breathtaking panoramic views over the lush green, Melides lagoon and the ocean. The adorable village of Melides is less than 10 minutes driving and there you’ll find some good traditional restaurants, shops and other services.

A massive wooden door leads to the entrance hall and the dining room with big windows overlooking the well-tended garden. On the ground floor, there is also the main living room with comfortable sofas and armchairs and also a fireplace. This room leads to a front porch where there’s a lounge area and a dining table perfect for some meals al fresco or a drink towards the end of the afternoon. A fully equipped kitchen, the laundry room, a service bathroom, and 3 suites (two with twin beds and one with a queen size bed) can also be found on this floor.

On the bedrooms corridor there’s a staircase that leads to the master suite, a cosy attic bedroom located in the upper floor, perfect for those looking for some extra privacy.

On the lower floor there is a spacious living room with TV, a bathroom and a sleeping area with two single beds. These are separated from the living room by a floor to ceiling thick curtain and next to a glassed door that leads to the garden. Also located in the same part of the house but only accessible from the outside, there is another twin bedroom with a small bathroom with shower.

Apart from the front porch, outside there are two other decked areas shaded by the trees: one in the backyard and another right next to the swimming pool. These are great to enjoy the silence and to really get immersed in nature.

Along the immediate coast, a five-mile-long stretch of sand separates the sea and the lagoon, with the fantastic beach of Aberta Nova just 10 minutes away by car. Praia do Pego and Praia Carvalhal can be reached within 30 minutes and are among Portugal’s most beautiful beaches.
