This spectacular villa is located in Santa Luzia, right in the heart of in the Paisagem da Cultura da Vinha da Ilha do Pico, a UNESCO classified site since 2004, with privileged views to the highest point in Portugal and a stone’s throw from the sea.

It is the result of a creative restoration project of the old Cabrito distillery and its manor house, built about 200 years ago. Nowadays it is a luxurious holiday home, perfect for families or groups of friends who want to spend some time enjoying the island to the fullest.

Although each room has a small private living area, there’s a common living space intended for gatherings with a privileged view over the pool and the mountain. It’s the place to be to read a book, have a drink or just to relax.

One side of the old distillery was converted into a dining room and a small fully equipped kitchenette. Across the dining room there’s a glass window to the factory. It labours from November to February, and is open to the local community so that everyone, just like 100 years ago, can come and “burn” their fruit and produce aguardente.

There are 6 bedrooms in total and they all have access to the old balcony at the front of the main building, from where you can enjoy a magnificent sea view. 

There’s also a sauna that operates in another re-purposed area of the original building, all covered in cryptomeria wood, a space where you can take a real break from the real world.

Outside you’ll find adorable corners and details, such as a wood-burning oven and a charcoal grill, a round wooden table for al fresco meals, a shaded lounge area and a heated swimming pool, especially pleasant after returning from an invigorating sea bath or a session in the sauna.

On the property there is an old tide well, full of fresh brackish water at high tide, good for watering or washing the vegetables from the vegetable garden.
